The fundamental problem today is that capitalism perceives value creation in a very narrow field, largely ignoring both the damage to the ecosystem and the societal consequences of profit-making methods. The poor are defamed as lazy, and the exploited are labeled as failures. These forms of racism serve to legitimize a value creation that knows no equality of opportunity, using competition as an act of violence to structurally devalue and dispossess millions of people in advance. This violence can only be countered by realistically and newly evaluating what constitutes value, work, and contribution. Only when we understand and integrate the true connections and the complexity of an eco-social economy will it become possible to work on reality and the actual problems. Therefore, it is essential that those whose value and contribution are systematically discriminated against make these visible and demand appropriate compensation. This is what Universal Care Income is about, in contrast to Universal Basic Income, which focuses on the concept of unconditionality but ignores the fact that real devaluation occurs in capitalism and people do not start with a value account at zero. It is not, as with UBI, about money without context, but about money from justice. (Timothy Speed)
